In the small market town of Coggeshall in the UK, there is a creative consultancy using Warco machines, designing and building unique projects such as Wonder Woman’s shield, and - The Batmobile. This company is called Special Projects.
Special Projects was founded by Steve Moseley. Steve showed a dedication to engineering and design from an early age, earning him recognition as the ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ by the British Engineering Council. He then further honed his design skills by completing a master’s program at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. A multi-disciplinary designer and self-confessed ‘fully fledged geek’, Steve thrives in an environment where he can solve complicated problems with elegant engineering solutions.
With a primary focus on innovative projects and technical devices, and using its expertise in product, industrial, and engineering design, Special Projects focuses on providing its services to leading special effects and art departments in the film industry (special-effects rigs, gadgets, technical props and set-pieces) as well as a growing list of international clients from outside the film world. This includes services on projects they call ‘X Projects’ – ones that demand a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Their range of services includes research, design, prototyping and final build.
Special Projects uses the Warco WM180 lathe (with DRO) and WM14B milling machine for its prototyping and in-house production work.
